Health and Safety

At Blenford Construction & Renovation, we are fully committed to meeting our obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and all other associated legislation. To achieve these objectives, the company has appointed a Health and Safety Consultant responsible for managing health and safety across all operations. This includes keeping workplace practices, welfare, and new legislation under constant review to ensure ongoing compliance with the law.

The ultimate responsibility for Health and Safety matters rests with the Board of Directors, who remain legally bound by any acts and/or omissions arising out of the course of company business. In compliance with statutory and common law duties, the company maintains appropriate insurance against liability for death, injury, or disease suffered by employees arising from negligence and/or breach of statutory duty.

Employees, in turn, are contractually required to comply with their individual duties under all relevant Health and Safety regulations. They are expected to co-operate with the Board of Directors to enable the company to discharge its responsibilities. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal for serious or repeated breaches, which may be considered gross misconduct.

In addition to its statutory duty to provide and maintain an Accident Book, the company operates a reporting system in accordance with RIDDOR 2013 to ensure all accidents, diseases, and dangerous occurrences are properly recorded and reported to the Health and Safety Executive.

Blenford Construction & Renovation also recognises its duty to the general public and lawful visitors to company premises, and therefore gives strict attention to all relevant Health and Safety legislation and the Occupiers’ Liability Acts 1957 and 1984.

Where required, employees whose first language is not English will have all relevant documentation explained to them by their Manager to ensure full understanding.

This policy has been prepared in compliance with Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and is binding on all Directors, Managers, and Employees. All Clients, Customers, and Visitors are asked to respect this policy. A copy is available on request.
